How RSI Charges

How Does RSI Charge Clients for Services?

Consultants, analysts, specialists, attorneys and the like usually charge an hourly rate for their services. In many cases, an “estimated number of hours” is included giving the client some idea of what the initial (cursory) cost will be. Rarely is there a “flat” rate given for research, development and production all rolled into one service.

In the case of investigatory and research work, the number of hours calculated can and often does change due to issues that (a) were unknown; (b) were not disclosed or disclosed after-the-fact; (c) change the scope of operations; or (d) all of the above.

RSI uses a billing and cost system that is similar to most professions; however, we take into account data and statistics from many years of past projects to where we can better estimate, and even determine a flat rate for many of our services.

From a single-owner business all the way to mutli-international corporations and their subsidiaries; from local government infrastructure projects to overseas governance operations, we can reasonably and justifiably determine costs and time to where they can be clearly articulated and understood. Moreover, throughout the projects we perform, we can determine quickly if changes need to be recommended that can affect costs, or act promptly when a client wishes to add or amend services to the original project / service guidelines.

Over the years, we have designed clear and concise Agreements for Services that include detailed and understandable Service Descriptions listing exactly what we will or will not do; the time that will be required; and the amount it will cost (e.g. hourly, estimated number of hours, flat rates, etc.) to where the client is comfortable with both the description of services to be performed, as well as the costs involved.

We work by:

  • Hourly rates
  • Hourly rates with established estimated number of hours calculated to be used
  • Flat rates

As much as we can reasonably calculate charges, if we complete a project sooner than expected, the client is refunded the unused portion, or, at their option, may credit it for other work to be performed.

In cases where the estimated number of hours may need to be exceeded, or the scope of the project has changed to such a degree that the client does not want to expend any more funds into it, their obligation for what was originally contracted is the maximum they are obligated to. No blank check operations. No assumed payments. What is agreed upon remains agreed upon.
